*A Public Service Bus is operated by the holder of a Public Service Vehicle (PSV) operator's licence with a route registered with the Traffic Commissioner available for public use. There are currently 40,700 buses registered as PSVs in operation in the UK in 2017/18. Only these vehicles are eligible for the Bus Service Operators Grant and LCEB BSOG grant. This does not include express journeys, private hire, tours etc. For more information please see the DfT's Notes and Definitions document.
