Accelerating Transport to Zero Emissions
We explore measures to increase the adoption of sustainable low carbon fuels such as biofuels and renewable hydrogen.
E10 petrol is being introduced into the UK from September 2021. The project will support the DfT to achieve a smooth consumer launch and roll-out.
The use of hydrogen as a low carbon energy vector is gaining interest across economy-wide sectors including road transport. Assessing the well-to-wheel (WTW) carbon and energy performance of different hydrogen supply chains in hydrogen vehicles is essential for informing both policy development and fleet operators in terms of new vehicle choice once supply chains expand.
Zemo Partnership’s recent study on Market opportunities to decarbonise HDVs using high blend renewable fuels identified a range of interventions to increase the adoption of renewable fuels in commercial vehicle fleets. One of the measures proposed was a reform of fuel duty to reflect the carbon intensity of road transport fuels.
The Transport Energy Network (TEN) is a collaboration working to develop a consensus view of pathways to net zero emissions for challenging applications with high journey energy requirements such as heavy duty trucks and off-highway machines.
Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) are responsible for 20% of UK road transport greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and long-haul trucks are one of the most challenging sectors to decarbonise. Zemo Partnership’s study on Market Opportunities to decarbonise HDVs identified a variety of interventions which could help accelerate the adoption of high blend renewable fuel (HBRF) in HGVs by fleet operators and tackle market barriers.

There is no better time to join our partnership for change. Join us and help shape the future.
For the past 18 years we've played a pivotal role successfully delivering the UK's low emission transport targets.
But the growing climate emergency means low is no longer enough.
Now, embracing a wider range of stakeholders to achieve a zero emissions future is what matters.
Today, we are strengthening our commitment to make change happen faster and accelerate transport to zero emissions.
Now, the Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership is relaunching as Zemo Partnership. #fromLowtoZero
