Accelerating Transport to Zero Emissions

We explore measures to increase the adoption of sustainable low carbon fuels such as biofuels and renewable hydrogen.
The Renewable Fuels Guide 2023 assists HGV operators on their journey to net zero and understand the low carbon fuel options available today. The renewable fuels covered are biodiesel, renewable diesel, biomethane and bio-propane.
Created and managed by Zemo Partnership, our pioneering new Renewable Fuels Assurance Scheme helps fleet managers drive down their greenhouse gas emissions by guaranteeing they are purchasing the most sustainable low carbon fuel from only approved renewable fuel accredited suppliers.
As we accelerate towards our ultimate goal of a zero emissions, sustainable transport future, low carbon fuels play a vital role. Zemo will provide ongoing policy support and technical expertise to the Government’s Low Carbon Fuels team and play a key advisory role in developing DfT’s Low Carbon Fuels Strategy.
Zemo Partnership’s recent study on Market opportunities to decarbonise HDVs using high blend renewable fuels identified a range of interventions to increase the adoption of renewable fuels in commercial vehicle fleets. One of the measures proposed was a reform of fuel duty to reflect the carbon intensity of road transport fuels.
