As applications for the competition* to help accelerate the zero emission powered light vehicle (PLV) market in the UK are assessed, Zemo aims to progress activity in this area with the formation of a UK PLV community group to bring together relevant manufacturers, users, local and central government stakeholders.

Plans to develop a community group to help steer a future UK market for powered light vehicles stems from the support committed by Government in the landmark 2021 Transport Decarbonisation Plan and resulting 'PLV Action plan' launched by Zemo and the Motorcycle Industry Association (MCIA) in February this year.

Since the publication of the Action Plan, the Department for Transport ran a consultation on the phase-out schedule for non-zero emission vehicles from the sector and feedback is now being analysed.

Zemo aims to hold an initial meeting of the UK PLV Community Group as soon as possible. Members and stakeholders who are interested in attending should register their interest by sending an email to the Partnership.

* The Powered Light Vehicles Feasibility Study Competition will provide grant funding of up to £35,000 to undertake three-month duration desktop research and/or preliminary investigation activities aimed at supporting the accelerated development of innovative vehicle technologies applicable to road going zero emission powered light vehicles (PLV).

The competition will focus on accelerating the development of new on-road zero emission powered light vehicles and/or solutions to deliver increased zero emission PLV vehicle range.
