Zemo Partnership's collaboration with Welsh Government to decarbonise Wales' freight sector continued when delegates from across industry, government, and finance gathered for a very successful event in Carmarthen on February 25th. The latest Moving to Zero event focused on transforming the A40 into a zero emission ‘green corridor’ for freight in Wales.
The Carmarthen event was described by LCV expert, Paul Kirby, on LinkedIn as "a perfect example of how collaboration between government, operators, and industry experts can change the face of decarbonisation".
The event brought together stakeholders from across transport, energy, infrastructure and investment to move beyond high-level ambition and into practical delivery. Discussions centred on how battery-electric vehicles, low carbon fuels, retrofit solutions, grid infrastructure, green finance, and port-connected logistics can be coordinated to accelerate the decarbonisation of heavy haulage and commercial fleets.
The day included case studies from Freight Solutions for Energy Wales (FSEW) and Openreach, demonstrating that the lower carbon freight and fleet transition is already underway, with real-world solutions delivering emissions reductions while maintaining operational efficiency.
The overarching message from the day was clear: green corridors are not an abstract policy idea; they are investable, innovation-driven opportunities that connect fleets, infrastructure and clean energy into a functioning ecosystem. The priority now is turning ambition into action to transform the A40 into a functioning green corridor, strengthening both environmental performance and regional competitiveness.
