Description:

The Energy Saving Trust is hosting a series of free, electric vehicle (EV) events across Scotland to highlight the benefits of integrating EVs into transport operations. They are inviting fleet operators to join them for practical information about the business benefits of electric vehicles and support and financial incentives to help businesses lower fuel costs.

Aberdeen - Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre, AB23 8BL - Friday, 17 October

Inverness - Eden Court, Bishops Road, Inverness, IV3 5SA - Friday, 24 October

Ayr - Western House Hotel, Craigie Road, Ayr, KA8 0HA - Friday, 7 November

In a recent survey of electric vehicle (EV) drivers, the Energy Saving Trust established that the average saving on fuel each year is £1,400 and that 85% of EV owners wouldn’t consider switching back to a petrol/diesel car.

Scottish businesses are increasingly considering integrating EVs into their fleets to access the financial, environmental and Corporate Social Responsibility benefits.

Government support towards the purchase of EVs is helping to address the higher initial costs. Anyone buying electric or plug-in cars can benefit from a grant of 25 per cent off the vehicle's price, up to a maximum value of £5,000 and up to £8,000 for a van.  Organisations can also apply for a grant of up to £10,000 to install a publicly available charging point through the ChargePlace Scotland project, funded by Transport Scotland.

Energy Saving Trust is hosting this series of free, electric vehicle events across Scotland to highlight the benefits of integrating EVs into transport operations. Speakers at the event will provide information about support available locally, including funding and financial incentives in place to help businesses to reduce their fuel costs and their carbon footprint.  Test drives will be available.
