Description:

The LowCVP annual conference will take place alongside the London Motor Show at ExCel, London on 23rd July. Transport Secretary Ruth Kelly will give the keynote address and delegates will also have the opportunity to learn the outcomes of the critical 'Gallagher Review’ of biofuels policy and the Government’s response to the King Review of low carbon cars.

Other speakers at the event include Kulveer Ranger, the new Mayor of London's Director of Transport Policy and Stefan Moser, Head of Clean Air and Transport Unit of DG-Environment of the European Commission. In addition to the Secretary of State, there will be contributions from Professor Julia King, Professor Jim Skea UKERC Research Director, the RFA chairman Professor Ed Gallagher, the SMMT Chief Executive Paul Everitt and Green Party Mayoral Candidate Sian Berry. Sean O'Grady, Associate Editor and Motoring Writer for The Independent will chair the morning conference sessions and Ed Crooks, The Financial Times' Energy Editor will chair the afternoon 'Question Time - style' panel debate.

Included in the proceedings will be:

- The latest international, national and local policy developments from leading speakers, including the latest on the EU’s ‘Cars and CO2’ regulation and the new London Mayor's environmental plans for transport in London
- The outcomes from the ‘Gallagher Review’ of the indirect effects of biofuels
- What Prof. Julia King thinks of the Government’s response to the ‘King Review’ of low carbon cars
- The results of the latest research into the most promising and cost-effective options for cutting carbon from road transport
- What drives public attitudes and whether a ‘greener’ car advertising protocol may help.
- The ‘fuel economy paradox’
- The DfT’s ‘Act on CO2’ campaign from the inside...
Plus the opportunity to join the BIG debate: "Can the road transport sector deliver enough carbon savings".

LowCVP conference delegates will also have the opportunity to join a private reception (sponsored by Shell) in the ‘Greener Driving Pavilion’ – an environmentally-themed area of the Motor Show – after the LowCVP conference concludes, before the chance to spend the evening in the Motor Show itself. The conference takes place on 'VIP Day' of the Motor Show.
