The LowCVP Annual Conference will take place on Thursday 15th June at the DTI Conference Centre in Victoria, Central London. The Conference will reveal the winning entries to the LowCVP's road transport Challenge, report new research evidence on the impact of the fuel economy label and give delegates an opportunity to help shape the outcome of the Government's review of the Powering Future Vehicles strategy.
Other speakers at the Conference will include representatives of Challenge partners, the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research and Local Transport Today.
The LowCVP Challenge was launched in July 2005 and called on policy and academic communities to contribute new or innovative proposals that will enable the UK to accelerate the shift to low carbon vehicles and fuels and help meet climate change targets. A group of representative stakeholders in the Partnership has assessed a wide range of proposals and selected four to be presented at the conference.
The colour-coded fuel economy label was launched by Transport Secretary Alistair Darling at last year's LowCVP Annual Conference. This year the Partnership is carrying out research to assess the impacts of the new label on the attitudes of dealers and consumers. The results of this research, as well as an update on the extent of the label's roll-out, will be presented at the conference.
During the later afternoon session, delegates will be invited to join break-out groups to provide feedback and opinions on the Government's anticipated review of the Powering Future Vehicles strategy that was announced in 2003.
In order to recoup conference costs there will be a delegate fee for attendance at this year's conference.
The fees will be: £250 + VAT per delegate (commercial); £175 + VAT (government and local authority); £100 + VAT (non-commercial, charity and individuals). There will be a 25% discount on these rates for LowCVP members.
Early booking is recommended as places are limited.
