Every Journey, Every Child: International Conference

Add to Calendar 2017-10-04 2017-10-05 Europe/London Every Journey, Every Child: International Conference
The ‘Every Journey, Every Child’ conference takes a child health perspective to showcase, to an international policy audience, London’s approach to tackling air pollution and implementing healthy streets, and to demonstrate – with examples from the US, Latin America, Africa and Asia – how other major cities around the world are grappling with similar issues and following similar paths to re-imagining their urban space. The conference seeks to build on the commitment by governments in the Habitat III New Urban Agenda that a ‘safe and healthy journey to school for every child is a priority’, and the Sustainable Development Goal targets on road safety and air quality, to promote practical action around the world.

About the Global Initiative:

The Global Initiative for Child Health & Mobility is a partnership, hosted by the FIA Foundation, advocating for the rights of children and promoting programmatic interventions (particularly in low and middle income countries) to prevent child road traffic injury and to reduce air pollution. We use a focus on the school journey to illuminate and encourage wider policy actions to redesign streets, reduce urban speeds, reduce immediate exposure to dangerous air pollution, and deliver long term solutions for air quality, such as improving engine and fuel performance, reducing car use and encouraging a shift to electric vehicles, mass transit and active mobility.
