Kuehne + Nagel are actively working towards carbon reduction. We operate a fleet of 120 large goods vehicles across multiple sites and work closely with a group of partners to distribute freight across the UK. In addition all of our business units also subcontract extensively in the UK to UK and UK to Europe commercial transport market. Measures so far, that we have taken with our own fleets and operations include the following: • Transfer from Diesel to HVO fuel for shunting operations at the East Midlands Gateway (EMG) and Dagenham Hubs. Currently reviewing replacement of these vehicles with electric powered equivalents. • Trial of a Volta vehicle at our Dagenham hub for distribution in the London area planned for December 22. • Trial of a DAF electric 18 Tonne vehicle for distribution at our EMG hub in July 22 and feedback to the OEM. • Currently transitioning our daily road runs for UK-Italy and UK-Spain to a multimodal solution utilising the CargoBeamer rail service to Northern Italy and Southern France. • Electric MHE operated at both Dagenham and EMG operational sites. • Company car move to electric and hybrid models. In addition to the measures taken with KN internal operations we are working with our SME partner network and UK haulage contractors to support them in their individual journeys in this area.
