Communications Associate Consultant
Help Zemo Partnership tell the story of the UK’s transition to zero-emission transport.
Zemo Partnership is looking for a Communications Associate Consultant to support our communications across media relations, digital channels, publications and stakeholder engagement. This is a unique opportunity to use your communications expertise to influence the debate on how the UK decarbonises road transport, working with government, industry and experts to turn evidence and policy into compelling communications that can influence policy and practice.
You will help raise Zemo’s profile with members, industry, policymakers and key influencers by turning complex policy and technical developments into compelling communications.
What you’ll do
Draft and distribute press releases, respond to media enquiries and pitch stories to relevant journalists and editors.
Research and write thought leadership articles, website copy, newsletter content and corporate communications.
Create engaging social media content on Zemo news, policy developments and topical issues, and advise on channel strategy.
Support communications campaigns that influence media and public debate.
Identify and advise colleagues on communications opportunities, risks and priorities.
Work with colleagues and external stakeholders to ensure communications are accurate, timely, on brand and aligned with Zemo’s priorities.
What we’re looking for
Strong media relations experience, including press releases, media enquiries and pitching stories.
Excellent writing skills, with the ability to produce accurate and engaging content for varied audiences and channels.
Strong understanding of road transport decarbonisation, public policy and the wider stakeholder environment.
Experience working with membership bodies, partnerships or multi-stakeholder organisations.
Sound judgement, attention to detail and the ability to recognise reputational, political and stakeholder sensitivities.
Initiative and the confidence to suggest ideas and deliver high-quality work to tight deadlines.
It would also be helpful to have experience using social media, content creation or media monitoring tools, and experience editing or producing corporate publications. Relevant qualifications in communications, PR, journalism or a related field are welcome, but equivalent professional experience will be just as important.
Working with Zemo
This is a flexible Associate Consultant role that can usually be carried out remotely or from Zemo Partnership’s office. Attendance will be required for selected meetings and events, occasionally outside London. The position reports to the Head of Public Affairs.
This is a flexible, part-time consultancy arrangement rather than a full-time salaried position. The successful candidate will normally be engaged as an independent contractor or consultant and remunerated at a negotiated hourly rate. The number of hours worked is likely to vary from month to month, depending on Zemo’s requirements and the agreed programme of work.
How to apply
If you are interested in using communications to help influence the debate and accelerate the UK's transition to zero-emission road transport, we would like to hear from you. Please email [email protected] by 5 pm on Tuesday 8 September, enclosing your CV and brief supporting letter.
