Zemo Partnership has joined a new international campaign, Global Women in EV Day, which will launch on February 10th 2026. The campaign will celebrate, elevate and empower the women driving the global transition to electric mobility, helping to accelerate moves to equity across the EV sector.

The initiative, founded by sector expert Gill Nowell, introduces a new approach to industry collaboration: an “equity-as-a-choice” partner model that seeks to remove hierarchy, break down barriers, and ensure that every partner receives the same visibility, regardless of size, contribution or status.

The chosen launch date - 10th February, honours the birthday of Edith Clarke (1883-1959) - the "Smart Grid's Founding Mother" - the pioneering electrical engineer who laid the foundations of modern grid modelling. Her work has been instrumental in setting out the core principles for the smart, flexible, EV-centred grid we need today.

Zemo Partnership is proud to be a founding partner, helping champion a movement rooted in fairness, representation and global collaboration.

While the EV transition is advancing at pace, equity is not. Women remain under-represented across the EV and wider energy sector:

  • Wages for women in energy are 15–20% lower (IEA)

  • Only 85 women are promoted for every 100 men (McKinsey)

  • Many women in automotive report feeling under-represented in leadership (Deloitte)

  • At the current pace, global gender parity is five generations away (WEF)

The EV transition represents a clear opportunity to build fairness, visibility and diversity into the foundations of a new global industry. Global Women in EV Day is designed to help make sure the sector achieves this.

Jonathan Murray, Acting Managing Director, Zemo Partnership: “Zemo Partnership is proud to support Global Women in EV Day. The shift to zero emission mobility isn’t only a technology transition, it’s a people transition. If we’re serious about delivering net zero at pace, we need a sector that attracts, retains and promotes diverse talent at every level. Global Women in EV Day is an important platform to celebrate the women already leading this change, while galvanising practical commitments that will strengthen the workforce and the outcomes for society.”

Global Women in EV Day is now inviting organisations across charging, automotive, fleets, energy, manufacturing, software, logistics, policy and beyond to explore partnership.
