Wed 17 December 2003 View all news

A joint UK/Japan forum of officials, scientists and industry on low carbon vehicles was organised by the Department for Trade and Industry at Church House on 2 December 2003. The Forum, initiated by the Prime Ministers of the UK and Japan in July 2003, gave an opportunity to exchange information and seek possible bilateral collaborations on investment in R&D for future alternative vehicles.

The meeting was addressed by the Secretary of State for Environmental and Rural Affairs, the Rt Hon Margaret Beckett MP, and his Excellency Ambassador Orita. Graham Smith, chairman of the LowCVP Board, provided an overview of the "LowCVP - One Year On". Technical presentations included papers from various LowCVP member organisations and Japanese representatives from Honda, Nissan and Toyota.
