Transport and Environmental Audit Committees hold evidence sessions on emissions, diesel and VW

Cross-party MPs on the Environmental Audit Committee and the Transport Select Committee have been hearing evidence this month from leading participants in connection with the VW emissions scandal and wider concerns about diesel emissions and air pollution.

On 27 October the Environmental Audit Committee (EAC) heard evidence relating to its inquiry into diesel emissions and air quality from Rory Stewart MP the Defra minister, Robert Goodwill MP, DfT minister, and Michael Hurwitz, Director of the Energy, Technology and International Directorate, DfT.

Earlier in the month (15 October), the EAC had also heard evidence as part of the same inquiry from Mike Hawes, Chief Executive of the SMMT and Paul Willis, Managing Director of Volkswagen Group UK.

As part of its inquiry into Volkswagen Group emissions violations, the Transport Select Committee on 12 October also heard evidence from Mike Hawes and Paul Willis as well as from the Transport Secretary, Patrick McLoughlin MP, Michael Hurwitz and Ian Yarnold of the Department for Transport, and Paul Higgs, Chief Executive of the Vehicle Certification Agency.
