The Swedish Government has made a commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by a quarter within 15 years, breaking the country's dependence on fossil fuels.

According to a report in ENDS, sectoral targets for 2015 will be introduced to support achievement of the overall goal.  In the case of transport, the Government has already set a target of stabilising emissions by 2010.
