Sustainable Urban Mobility seminar showcases LowCVP Technology Challenge winners

A LowCVP seminar focusing on how technology will shape the cities of the future also showcased the winning entries of the 2012 LowCVP Urban Mobility Techology Challenge. Delegates heard a 'Dragons Den'-style analysis of the winning Challenge entries following a series of presentations and debates involving experts in the field which are now available to download.

The seminar was targeted at city and other urban authorities; public transport operators; the investment community; SMEs and other innovators in this field; consultancies with a technology focus in this area. It included presentations on the city of the future including real world case studies.
The winners of the Techology Challenge proffered – in many cases futuristic - solutions to the problems posed by the need to travel in crowded urban areas. The winning proposals include a lightweight, driverless electric bus; a system to improve the efficiency of urban freight transport; a bus-taxi hybrid (a ‘buxi’); a low carbon, community-managed car club; plus two variants of lightweight, single seat electric vehicles.
