LowCVP has welcomed six new members to the Partnership. The new members, who include a leading local authority and two large consultancy companies, have recognised the opportunity that LowCVP membership brings in enhancing influence and demonstrating leadership and commitment to delivering a lower carbon future.
The following new members were approved by the LowCVP Members Council in March:
Element Energy
Element Energy is a leading UK consultancy in the field of low carbon transport, working for a wide range of clients, including OLEV, the Department for Transport , as well as major automotive OEMS. Element Energy's award-winning study on the ownership costs of Ultra Low Emission Vehicles for the LowCVP was widely publicised throughout the sector in 2011. The company is currently playing a major role in UK hydrogen activity, including winning EU funding for demonstration projects and working the Government and OEMs to assess the business case for hydrogen in the UK. Their work increases both the supply and demand for low carbon vehicles and fuels, by assisting Government to design supportive policies and allowing private clients to transition to lower carbon transport.
Ernst & Young
Ernst & Young's Sustainability and Cleantech Services team is a cross-functional specialist team providing a range of specialist advisory, assurance, transaction and tax services which enable clients to maximise value from sustainability and the transition to a sustainable, resource efficient and cleantech-enabled economy. Transport clients have complex and changing needs as they seek to embed sustainability into their business models and strategies and as they seek to create value from innovation in clean technology and the transition to a low carbon, resource efficient economy.
Gasrec
Gasrec is a leading producer of liquid methane fuel using gas created by the decomposition of biomass. The gas supply is obtained from existing landfill sites or from digestion of the biomass by-products of food manufacture and retail and other industries. In creating and selling the fuel product we recover energy stored in material discarded by society to power society’s vehicles. The fuel is LBM (Liquid Bio Methane), a commercially competitive and environmentally sound fuel that can be directly substituted for both CNG (compressed natural gas) and LNG (liquefied natural gas) for use in gas powered and dual-fuel vehicles, or for decentralised power generation.
Grant Thornton
The dedicated Automotive Advisory and Environmental, Energy and Sustainability practices within Grant Thornton focus on promoting and delivering projects with carbon reduction and sound economic benefit at the "heart" of the business model. Their involvement extends to all areas of the practice and across all works streams including Corporate Finance, Tax and Transactional integration. The firm is committed to investment in this focus area and will develop its offerings in line with market requirements.
London Borough of Camden
The Borough sources low carbon vehicles under a policy which mandates a hierarchy of fuel choices, starting at the top of the list and work down from Hydrogen to Electric to diesel, there are 8 choices in total. Each step down requires a business case to justify why the vehicle is not chosen from higher up the list. Camden currently has one of the largest bio-methane fleets in the UK.
Sunfarm Ltd.
Working with a broad coalition of partners to bring together a fully integrated nationwide network of electric vehicle (EV) charge points Sunfarm's project has the backing of GE Electric. Chargepoint Services have been installing EV charging since inception. Together the coalition has developed an approach which enables bespoke solutions for individual clients but also cross-platform integration between systems. This means that tomorrow's EV drivers will have the assurance of being able to travel between client networks and have access to an integrated backroom operation with standard rates of charging etc. This also means that individual client demands for branding, advertising, offers and most importantly user profiling can all be addressed.
