Carbon War Room and the North American Council for Freight Efficiency have launched a joint program to drive the adoption of efficiency technologies. The launch was marked with the release of a free, independent, online technology guide to help fleet owners make the best choices for their operations.

Truckingefficiency.org is intended to be a comprehensive, free, unbiased knowledge hub for around 70 trucking efficiency technologies, including aerodynamics, tires, and idle reduction.

Its providers say that the site overcomes a key market barrier facing suppliers and purchasers — a lack of transparent information on efficiency, cost, and return on investment that has made many businesses reluctant to invest in trucking efficiency technologies for their fleets.

A LowCVP report in 2012 identified barriers here in the UK market and is working with DfT and OLEV to address the issues

has been created to shadow the work being conducted under the DfT's Low Carbon Truck Task Force. Its current intitiatives include work to develop a strategy to promote the use of methane in HGVs and an accreditation scheme for retrofit carbon reduction technology in heavy vehicles.

The LowCVP's Commercial Vehicle (CV) interest group is being created to take forward several initiatives which shadow the work being conducted under the DfT's Low Carbon Truck Task Force. It is currently working to develop a strategy to promote the use of methane in HGVs and LowCVP and its members are developing an accreditation scheme for retrofit carbon reduction technology in heavy vehicles.  (Download flyer here.)
