New LowCVP member, EV Matters Ltd has been involved in a number of trials seeking to demonstrate the flexibility and versatility of battery electric vehicles. For 2014 the company is committed to two further trials, more challenging than anything attempted before.

The principal event is this summer’s World Advanced Vehicle Expedition (WAVE). The event is a marathon course through Germany, Austria and Switzerland and features the world’s largest gathering of electric vehicles.  The total distance to be covered is about 3000 miles.

For the event EV Matters has teamed with Green MotorSport Ltd to make Team Green MotorSport.  Their ‘WAVE Car-1’ will be a prototype light-utility EV, to Green Motorsport’s own design.   The vehicle is the product of requirements established with charity the Growing Air Foundation (GAF).  GAF have asked for an EV with cross-country ability and modest payload, able to be utilized in reforestation projects, in remote areas of South America.

As a ‘warm-up to the main event, EV Matters will be sharing the WAVE principles with a UK audience by taking their vehicle on a whistle-stop tour of UK to raise funds for Help for Heroes.   Starting on 8th April 2014, the ‘WAVE Car-2’ will follow a route, starting in London – up the east coast to Scotland before heading to the Scottish Western Isles.
