A new 'Freight Portal' to provide advice and information to operators on how to improve efficiency with safer, more sustainable fleets has been created by the Energy Saving Trust as part of an initiative developed in partnership with the LowCVP and supported by the Department for Transport.

The portal supports Government's Road to Zero strategy by providing advice to freight operators, directing them towards a range of schemes to help achieve lower costs and emissions. According to Government figures (BEIS, 2018), HGVs account for 18% of the greenhouse gas emissions and 13% of the nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions produced by road transport.

The Freight Portal shows operators how to make their fleet safer, more sustainable and more productive, providing advice on a range of key topic areas. The Portal also provides signposts to a wide range of schemes that have been set up to support fleet operators in making the best and most sustainable choices.
