The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has announced two additional all-electric bus routes for the capital. Starting in Spring 2018, 36 electric buses will run on route C1 (White City to Victoria) and route 70 (South Kensington and Acton) This will boost the total number of electric buses in London to 121, in addition to the 2,000 hybrid-electric buses already on the road.

Sadiq Khan said: "I want London to become a world leader in hydrogen and electric bus technology and I hope other cities around the world will join me in sending the message that only the cleanest technologies are welcome where we live and work."

The capital currently has the largest electric bus fleet in Europe, and Transport for London (TfL) has also been exploring the introduction of hydrogen buses. In 2016, the 507 and 521 became central London’s first fully-electric routes, part of the Mayor’s plans to roll-out 300 zero-emission single-deck buses serving the centre of London by 2020.
