The LowCVP is running a new series of webinars under the title 'Technology Bites', which aims to raise awareness of emerging capabilities in the UK low carbon automotive supply chain. The webinars provide a platform for LowCVP members to promote their technology, product or service to the wider stakeholder community interested in low carbon vehicles and fuels.

On 26 October, the LowCVP ran the first of the new series in a webinar featuring Axeon and Ashwoods Automotive. Axeon is Europe's largest independent supplier of lithium-ion battery solutions whilst Ashwoods Automotive is the UK's largest supplier of hybrid light commercial vehicles and retro-fit hybrid technology. (The webinar is now available to view again - see associated link.)

Around each fortnight, two of LowCVP's members will provide news of their organisation's progress.

The next event is scheduled for Wednesday, 9 November (12:30 to 13:30) and will feature a presentation from Gary Hayes of HGen and Phil Edwards of Weald EVT . The webinars are chaired by the LowCVP and there will be an opportunity for questions and answers. Webinars are all recorded and made available to view/listen again from the LowCVP website.

In the first webinar George Patterson of Axeon Ltd presented an overview of its lithium-ion battery solutions which are aimed at three main sectors: automotive, powering the clean electric vehicles of the future and power tools. Axeon currently supplies battery systems to a number of leading EV manufacturers and are also developing a range of prototype batteries for both EV and HEV applications for a number of clients across Europe.

Ashwoods Automotive's John Poxon showed the webinar audience how it has grown rapidly to become the UKs largest supplier of hybrid light commercial vehicles and retro-fit hybrid technology. The company has developed and is selling proprietary hybrid and electric technology for light commercial vehicles which is proven to reduce CO2 emissions and fuel costs by between 15% and 25%. Ashwoods have developed, proven and commercialised a range of proprietary products and are currently supplying them to the UKs largest fleets. Their core products include the Ashwoods Hybrid Transit Van and the Ashwoods retro-fit hybrid system.
