LowCVP webinar series: Shifting buyer preferences to low carbon cars (April-May 2012)

The LowCVP is to hold a series of webinars during late April and early May 2012 to focus on measures that can be taken to accelerate the shift in car buyer attitudes in favour of lower carbon cars. The three webinars are intended to provoke a debate amongst stakeholders and to inform a scoping study to be prepared by the LowCVP on this topic.

Booking details for the three webinars will be announced shortly on the LowCVP website events section and through other channels. The three topics to be addressed are:

Topic One – Fiscal measures for promoting behaviour change (23 April 1-2.30pm)
Overview of UK tax instruments and their effectiveness – Matt Croucher, SMMT
Feebates and other instruments; commentary on most promising measures- Malcolm Fergusson, consultant
Influencing the grey fleet through ‘benefit in kind’ – Stewart White, Fleet Audits

Topic Two – Influencing Local Authorities and the fleet sector (27 April 1-2.30pm)
LEZs, parking permits, travel plans and other measures – Cllr Shona Johnstone, Cambs Co. Council
Low Emission Zones and Congestion Charging – Samantha Kennedy, Senior Delivery Planning Manager TfL
Influencing private sector fleets; CSR and other considerations - John Webb, Principal Consultant, Lex Autolease, (tbc)

Topic Three – Behavioural and other measures (non-fiscal) (3 May 1-2.30pm, tbc)
Information, labels and the consumer – Dr Ben Lane, EcoLane consulting
Nudges and winks – what works? Dr Jillian Anable, Aberdeen University
The role of public information campaigns ( Act on CO2 and other), speaker tbc

Each webinar will include presentations and subsequent discussion between the speakers and participating delegates . The events will be chaired by Jonathan Murray, Interim Managing Director, LowCVP
