LowCVP to showcase low emission trucks at LCV2017 Event

The LowCVP will be hosting the 'Low Emission Truck Stop' at Cenex-LCV2017 (Millbrook, 6-7 September) to highlight how this key sector of road transport is rising to the emissions challenge with the introduction of new, cleaner technologies and fuels. Supported by Scania, Magtec and Offgrid Energy, the Truck Stop will showcase the use of a range of technologies for cutting CO2 and polluting emissions.
The truck sector is responsible for around a quarter of all CO2 emissions from road transport in the EU and about 5% of all the EU's greenhouse gas emissions. Because of the variety of vehicles and complexity of the market the truck sector has been relatively neglected until recently. The LowCVP recently re-established a CV Working Group and is working on a range of initiatives to hasten the low carbon, low pollution shift in the truck sector.
Delegates at LCV2017 should visit the Low Emission Truck Stop to find out more about the LowCVP's HGV Accreditation Scheme, which is enabling equipment manufacturers or vehicle operators to conduct robust, repeatable and reliable tests to validate the impact on fuel consumption and emissions under a range of operating conditions.
The Truck Stop will also provide an opportunity to find out more about the potential of biomethane as a fuel for HGVs and about the growing opportunities for electrification and hybridisation of commercial vehicles.
The LowCVP will also be collaborating with other UK government-affiliated agencies and funding bodies supporting UK motor and fuels industry innovation which are coming together once again to present a 'UK Pavilion', which will be a centrepiece of the LCV2017 Event. Situated in the centre of Hall 3, the UK Pavilion will allow delegates to find out first-hand how the UK's unique innovation support ecosystem fits together, from academia and research support through to commercialisation and market penetration. The Pavilion will showcase the Government’s commitment to innovation and growth in the UK automotive industry.
