Following the publication of the LowCVP's "Guide to Local Measures for Encouraging the Uptake of Low Emission Vehicles", the LowCVP is hosting a pilot Low Emissions Cities Workshop on 6 July in York to outline best practice measures - targeted at local authorities - for increasing the take-up of low pollution and low carbon vehicles in cities covering cars, vans, taxis, and buses.

The workshop is being run in collaboration with CENEX, Urban Foresight and City of York Council. The event will introduce the LowCVP’s recently launched best practice guides for local authorities and van fleet operators, together with providing more detail on the OLEV Low Emission Bus Scheme, which LowCVP is supporting. The event is free and will include lunch plus an opportunity for a question and answer session with low emission vehicle experts.

Meanwhile, OLEV, the Knowledge Transfer Network and Innovate UK are surveying the views of Councils and Local Authorities to gauge the level of interest and appetite for a potential series of KTN-led workshops designed to enable the sharing of good practice and access to knowledge of how to accelerate this activity.

The organisations want to help form a picture of what activities may, or may not, be underway locally in efforts to de-carbonise vehicle fleets, in order to develop a coherent programme of ongoing support.

This support may range from facilitated workshop sessions that will enable knowledge exchange and transfer of best practice, to funding opportunities that will enable new technologies and procurement to be implemented at a local authority level.

There is a one-minute survey designed to enable stakeholders to give information on what they're doing - or would like to see being done.
