Speaking at the 2014 Euro Bus Expo, the LowCVP's Head of Projects Gloria Esposito outlined to delegates how the Partnership has been working with the Government to successfully expand the UK's low carbon bus market. Nearly 300 exhibitors took part in the event which was also attended by three government ministers, including Transport Secretary Patrick McLoughlin.

Gloria explained how the LowCVP has been helping the Department for Transport to define what is a low carbon emission bus (LCEB) in order to provide a basis for policy implementation. She also outlined the potential for competing technologies including pure electric and diesel-electric hybrid vehicles, and those running on fuel cells and biomethane. Her presentation also touched on flywheel technology and wireless inductive charging.

She concluded by outlining the Partnership's policy recommendations to Government in this area. (To see the presentation, please click here.)

Euro Bus Expo is a biennial showcase event, held at the NEC Birmingham. This year there were more than 100 of the latest vehicles on display – between them worth over £20m – alongside a raft of innovative technology and cutting edge developments in accessibility and reduced environmental impact which, as the organiser's website states, is increasingly shaping the passenger transport sector.

The Secretary of State – the Rt Hon Patrick McLoughlin MP – along with Transport Minister Baroness Kramer toured and made Keynote addresses at the event, whilst Danny Kennedy MLA, the Transport Minister for Northern Ireland, also took part.

Nearly 9,500 visitors came to the three day show, including senior executives from all the major bus groups, together with coach operators and international transport groups.

Euro Bus Expo 2016 will be back at the NEC Birmingham, 1-3 November 2016.
