LowCVP takes part in 'Government Pavilion', Low Emission Truckstop at LCV2018 event

This year's Cenex-LCV2018 Event - of which the LowCVP is a supporting partner - was the biggest ever with nearly 4,400 visitors attending. This year the event also formed the second day of the ZEV Summit which commenced in Birmingham the day before.
The LowCVP was a key partner in the UK Government Pavilion in the Centre of LCV's Hall 3, alongside the Advanced Propulsion Centre, the Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV), the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), the Department for International Trade (DIT), Innovate UK and Meridian (initiative for Connected and Autonomous Vehicles).
The LowCVP also collaborated with Innovate UK to showcase some of the best in low emission truck and van technology at the event. Projects supported through the Low Emission Freight Trial (LEFT) were on display (see accompanying picture).
The Low Emission Freight Trial (LEFT) is enabling lorries and vans to try out different technologies designed to lower greenhouse gas and polluting emissions. Technologies to be trialled include battery electric, biomethane and hydrogen dual-fuel solutions, together with lightweight and hybrid trailer technology. They are part of a £20 million government programme funded by the Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV) and Innovate UK.
The aim of the trial is to demonstrate new technologies and to encourage the widespread introduction of low and zero emission vehicles to UK fleets. Data from the trial vehicles is currently being collected and an analysis of the performance, cost savings and environmental impacts of the different vehicle technologies will be reported in due course.
