LowCVP sparks international interest

The UK's partnership approach to tackling the climate change problems associated with road transport has generated recent applications for LowCVP membership from organisations based overseas. More interest is anticipated after a LowCVP spokesman appeared before a large international business audience on the BBC's World Business Report.

The LowCVP Secretariat has received expressions of interest in membership from a section of the French National Assembly, from a biofuels company based in Finland, from an organisation associated with the Government of India and from a leading France-based automotive components supplier.

The growth in international interest has been generated partly by media coverage following the recent launch of the environmental label for new cars. The Secretariat received communications from New Zealand and from the USA, including a note of congratulations from the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy (ACEEE).

On March 8th, LowCVP Director Greg Archer appeared on the BBC's World Business Report which is accessed by up to 55million viewers worldwide (but is not broadcast in the UK). Greg Archer spoke about the thinking behind the UK's partnership approach.

Mr Archer also appeared on BBC's News24 on the same evening.
