LowCVP participated in events at each of the recent party conferences designed, to raise awareness amongst the policy community of Partnership activities and the key issues involved in reducing the climate impacts of road transport.

On 27 September, in collaboration with SERA (Labour environment group), LowCVP held a low carbon transport 'round table'. Around 25 delegates were invited to meet transport minister Dr Stephen Ladyman to discuss potential policies and other means of reducing CO2 emissions from road transport. The event, held under 'Chatham House rules', involved MPs and representatives of the policy making community and up to three delegates from each of LowCVP's  stakeholder groups.

On 20 September, LowCVP held a 'low carbon transport reception' in collaboration with the Centre for Reform (a LibDem 'think-tank'). The LowCVP Director, Greg Archer, introduced Norman Baker (Shadow Environment Secretary) who addressed 70-80 guests. Mr Baker welcomed the LowCVP initiative on car labelling but said that much more needs to be done to bring carbon dioxide emissions from the road transport sector under control.

On 4 October, LowCVP were partners in sponsoring the Tory Green Initiative (TGI) Dinner, which attracted about 120 guests to the Savoy Hotel, Blackpool. Shadow Environment Secretary, Oliver Letwin, outlined the Conservatives overall environmental philosophy while Bill Wiggin, a junior environment shadow minister, described more detailed policy prescriptions. Greg Archer and representatives of other participating organisations also addressed the guests.

The TGI dinner was also attended by John Gummer, the former Environment Secretary in Margaret Thatcher's Government and a founder member of  the TGI.

The LowCVP issued a Parliamentary Briefing (downloadable below) which was issued to interested MPs and other relevant members of the policy community just before the party conference season.
