LowCVP members Ford, BMW and Arval have been recognised as being amongst the leading organisations in supplying vehicles and related services to the important UK fleet sector. Ford was the winner of the Award for Innovation in Car and Van Manufacturing with BMW the runner-up in the same category. Arval was the runner-up in the Award for Innovation in Fleet Services and Systems.

The Fleet Hero judges said that Ford is bringing premium, efficient vehicle technologies at low cost to wider fleet markets including cars and vans. They are the only manufacturer of non-premium cars so far to bring products like active grille shutters; smart regenerative charging; lane-keeping aids and automated car parking to this segment of the market.

About BMW the judges said that while some key innovations are one or two years away, BMW has introduced a number of innovations including its eco-dashboard and hybridisation on some key vehicles. The judges liked the company’s mobility services offer.

The Fleet Hero Awards celebrate public and private organisations that are successfully reducing their carbon footprints - and lowering their fuel bills - through fleet travel and transport policies. They also celebrate companies that supply the most innovative cost and fuel-saving products or services to car and van fleets. Around a half of all new cars bought in the UK are purchased for fleet use.

The Awards event was held at the Institute of Directors in central London at a reception attended by Norman Baker MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Transport and 150 leading delegates from the transport sector .
