The LowCVP has launched a new website to provide information on low carbon emission buses. The launch of the website - a 'microsite' linked to the LowCVP's main website - is timed to coincide with the introduction of the Government's £30m Green Bus Fund which will provide bus companies and local authorities with the opportunity to compete for funds to support the introduction of hundreds of new, low carbon buses across England. The LowCVP recently collaborated with the Department for Transport to bring news of the Green Bus Fund and changes to the Bus Service Operators Grant (BSOG) to Coach and Bus Live 2009 at Birmingham's NEC.

The new microsite (see adjacent link) will provide a resource base for manufacturers, operators, local authorities and others with easy access to the latest policy developments and opportunities relating to low carbon buses.

The LowCVP played an active part in Coach and Bus Live 2009 which was sold out with 205 exhibitors and a healthy delegate turn-out. The LowCVP welcomed DfT guests to an exhibition stand at the show through which information was provided on the Green Bus Fund and recent changes to the BSOG. Jonathan Murray, the LowCVP's Deputy Director ,and Helen Pritchard, Head of the DfT's Bus Subsidy Team, gave presentations to delegates in the seminar area which was a central focal point within the show.

The LowCVP is holding a webinar about applying to the Green Bus Fund on Monday November 9. The deadline for applications to the fund has been extended until Wednesday 18 November.
