The LowCVP is setting up a Commercial Vehicle interest group to operate alongside its other road transport-focused working groups in recognition of the increased attention of policymakers towards cutting emissions from HGVs and other commercial vehicles.

The Commercial Vehicle (CV) interest group is being created to shadow and disseminate the work being conducted under the DfT Low Carbon freight Task Force.  The group will build on the previous work of the LowCVP CV Working Group and, if required, will meet to develop specific work projects.

Just under way is a project to create an accreditation scheme for low carbon truck technologies as highlighted in the OLEV strategy published in September 2013. Members interested in supporting/funding this project should contact the LowCVP secretariat as soon as possible.  Further work is planned to support the ongoing DfT strategy for the introduction of methane into the HGV market and to assist in developing better models of the true contribution of this important sector of transport to UK GHG emissions.
