The LowCVP conference - held on June 15 at the DTI Conference Centre, Westminster - featured the announcement of the winners of the LowCVP's 'Road Transport Challenge', the results of new research into the impacts of the colour-coded fuel economy label and a keynote speech from Energy Minister, Malcolm Wicks. Nearly 200 delegates attended the conference.

The four best entries to the year-long  LowCVP 'Challenge' were presented and these, with four additional submissions, were published in a booklet produced to accompany the conference (see download option below).

The LowCVP Deputy Director, Jonathan Murray, reported on the latest research into the roll-out and effectiveness of the colour-coded environment label for new cars that was introduced under a LowCVP-brokered initiative a year ago. Around three-quarters of car dealerships are now displaying the label. (For full details of all the research see Jonathan Murray's presentation - link below.)

The LowCVP secretariat has received generally very positive feedback about the event to date. Based on 50 responses to a post-conference survey, 88% of delegates described the conference as 'very good' or 'good'. When asked about 'value for money' 74% of respondents said the conference was 'good value' while 24% said it was 'average' and 2%, 'poor'.

The most highly-rated session of the conference was on the LowCVP 'Challenge'. 44% of respondents described this session as 'very good' and a further 40% ranking it 'good'. There was also a very favourable response to the LowCVP 'Challenge' booklet with 58% rating it as 'very good' and a further 32% as 'good'.

At the opening of his speech the Energy Minister Malcolm Wicks said: "The LowCVP has been recognised internationally as a best practice government and industry partnership."
