Energy policy responsibility shifts with ministerial reshuffle at DTI

The Secretary of State for Trade and Industry, Alistair Darling, has taken over responsibility for energy policy following a reshuffle precipitated by the retirement of Lord Sainsbury. Malcolm Wicks, the former Energy Minister, is now the Science and Innovation Minister. 

Lord Truscott becomes Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the DTI and will share responsibility for energy policy with Mr Darling. 

Meanwhile, Ben Bradshaw has been promoted to Minister of State at Defra. Mr Bradshaw will has responsibility for issues including local environmental quality and air quality and noise.
