The Government has published a book - "Avoiding Dangerous Climate Change" - which describes the most recent developments in the science of climate change, exploring acceptable limits to climate change and what we can do to avoid it.

Based on submissions to the February 2005 international conference in Exeter, Defra's publication examines the consequences of different levels of climate change and covers the impacts for different sectors and regions. The book considers technological options that can be used to achieve different levels of climate change as the world moves to a lower carbon economy.

In a foreword to the book, the Prime Minister says: “This book will serve as more than a record of another conference or event. It will provide an invaluable resource for all people wishing to enhance global understanding of the science of climate change and the need for humanity to tackle the problem.”

The full text of the book and an executive summary can be downloaded from Defra's climate change website (links below).
