The 2002 reform of the UK’s system for taxing company cars has played a significant part in reducing average new car CO2 emissions from 196g/km (when the reform was announced) to 182g/km, according to a new report from the Inland Revenue. The number of company cars purchased has also decreased and the number of business miles travelled has fallen considerably, the report states.
