Description:
The Department of Transport has issued a consultation on when to end the sale of new non-zero emission L-category vehicles. L-Category refers to the range of vehicles from mopeds (L1), through motorcycles (L3) to quadricycles (L7).
The current proposal is to end the sales of new non-zero emission L-category vehicles from:
- 2035 (or earlier if a faster transition seems feasible) for all L-category vehicles
- 2030 (or earlier if a faster transition seems feasible) for L1, L2, L3e-A1, L6 & L7
These dates are designed to coordinate with the phase-out of other non-zero emission road vehicles which have been previous set as:
- 2030 for new cars and vans that run solely on petrol or diesel
- 2035 for all new non-zero emission cars and vans
- 2040 for all new non-zero emission road vehicles
Responses to the L-category consultation are due in by 21st September 2022.
Zemo Partnership intends to respond to the consultation, and are seeking the views of the membership as well as non-members.
