Description:

Successfully achieving our zero emission transport future depends upon a comprehensive public charging infrastructure that’s robust, reliable and accessible to all.

This conference, being broadcast from Westminster, brings together an illustrious panel of industry experts and government representatives, regulators and consumer groups to tackle the big questions:

  • What does the perfect public charging network look like for the end user?
  • What industry actions and Government interventions are necessary to deliver a public charging network to be proud of?
  • How many and what type of public charging points will we need?

Determining the number and distribution of future public charging points is a question often asked – with many alternative scenarios suggested. The Electric Vehicle Energy Taskforce has carried out sophisticated, in-depth modelling to provide the answer, which will be unveiled at the conference.

This modelling uses a new framework approach to understand the key issues in more detail than ever before by exploring the linkages between travel behaviour, EV deployment, infrastructure and the energy system. For the first time, this is built using critical assumptions that have been agreed across the sector and the results scrutinised by a wide range of consumer groups, industry and government stakeholders.

At the conference, the EV Energy Taskforce’s panel of experts will discuss and debate the model outputs, offer perspectives from private and fleet users, and how we ensure our public charging network is both used and usable.

The event will include a keynote address from Trudy Harrison MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary, Department for Transport.
