Description:

Heavy duty vehicles are responsible for 20% of UK road transport greenhouse gas emissions, with long haul freight contributing the largest proportion of emissions. The Government has set a long-term ambition to achieve a net zero greenhouse gas transport system by 2050. In order to meet this goal rapid decarbonisation of the road transport will be necessary over the next two decades. The HGV sector one of the most challenging to decarbonise given the diversity of truck operations, vehicle configurations and typically long-distance transportation. Renewable fuels are one of the most promising solutions on the market today to help address the urgent challenge of reducing greenhouse gas emission from the UK’s HGV fleet.

The LowCVP will be running a webinar on Thursday 28th May, 11am – 12.15pm to provide an overview of the range of renewable fuels currently available in the UK and their deployment in HGV fleets. This focuses on LowCVP’s recent publication of a Renewables Fuel Guide. The webinar will cover the UK renewable fuel policy landscape, GHG and sustainability credentials of current biofuel supply chains, suitability for different vehicle fleets plus economic and practical considerations. The audience will have the opportunity to hear from four organisations about use of biofuels in their vehicle fleet.
