Climate Assembly calls for 'strong, clear leadership from Government' towards net zero


The citizens assembly on climate change has published its final report which sets out how the UK can meet its 2050 net zero target.The report advocates a range of measures in the road transport area including a ban on the sale of new petrol, diesel and hybrid cars by 2030-35, a reduction in the amount people use cars by an average of 2-5% per decade and improvements to public transport.

Scania launches range of electric trucks Scania has launched a range of electric trucks including a fully electric model and a plug-in hybrid. The major Swedish manufacturer and LowCVP member company says that both models - offered with L- and P-series cabs - can be configured for general cargo, temperature-controlled transport and a range of other specialist applications. Event 22 October: Electric Vehicle Energy Taskforce - from Proposals to Actions The Electric Vehicle (EV)  Energy Taskforce - which was convened by LowCVP to help bring energy and automotive stakeholders together to facilitate the electric transition in road transport - is moving into a new action and implementation phase. Polestar calls for auto sector to be more transparent about full life-cycle emissions

Polestar, the electric performance brand jointly owned by Volvo and parent company Geely, is to publish full details of the climate impact of its electric vehicles (EV). The company says it aims to be the most transparent in the automotive industry.

Government announces winners of 'ground-breaking' research projects for World EV Day The Government has announced the winners of a total of £12m funding through the Catalysing Green Innovation programme and 2020 Proof of Concept Competition. The announcements were made alongside others from Government and linked agencies, to coincide with World EV Day (9 September). Read more

Mayor launches heavy vehicle scrappage scheme to tackle air pollution in London The Mayor of London has announced plans to extend the scrappage scheme for vans and minibuses to HGVs, heavy vans, buses and coaches with the aim of improving air quality in London. The scheme is being launched in advance of the tighter Low Emission Zone (LEZ) standards, which will come into force on 1 March 2021.  Read more

EV World Congress (Online) - 02/11/2020

The virtual EV World Congress 2020 will take place from 2-4 November 2020. The event aims to highlight innovation and developments in the global electric vehicle market and includes exhibitions, networking, workshop and plenary sessions with leading speakers as well as a variety of other novel features.

Energy data and the supply chain webinar series: Session One - Open Energy Data - 08/10/2020

From October to December, BEAMA and Foot Anstey present a five-part webinar series about energy data and its applications. Please join us and our guest speakers Laura Sandys (Challenging Ideas), Rich Hampshire (CGI) and Rodolphe de Beaufort (GIMELEC) for the first session on 8 October to discuss opportunities and challenges and how Open Energy Data can transform the energy system.
