175 countries sign Paris Agreement signalling clear commitment to tackle climate change


Following the historic agreement last December, 175 countries have signed the Paris Agreement on climate change, signalling their intention to ratify its conditions. All the major carbon emitters - including the United States, China and the EU were signatories in New York.

LowCVP 2016 Low Carbon Champions Awards open for nominations!

The Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership (LowCVP) has opened the call for nominations to the 2016 Low Carbon Champions Awards. The deadline for submissions is Friday, 13 May. The Champions Awards celebrate organisations that have made a real difference in the area of low carbon road transport. There are seven Award categories, ranging from cars to innovation, from fuels to publications, and the winners will be announced at a gala dinner that will take place alongside Cenex’s Low Carbon Vehicle Event (Cenex-LCV) on Wednesday, 14 September 2016


LowCVP Annual Conference, 30 June - bookings to open soon!

The LowCVP's 2016 Annual Conference will take place on Thursday 30 June 2016 at a venue within the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London. The event will be supported by and held in association with the  'Make the Future London' exhibition and delegates will also have a VIP opportunity to see the teams' concepts for the future of efficient cars in action at the Shell Eco-marathon. Bookings for the event will open shortly.

Mitsubishi Motors admits manipulating fuel economy tests

Mitsubishi Motors has admitted that it falsified fuel economy data for more than 600,000 vehicles sold in Japan. The company says that tyre pressure figures were falsified by employees to improve fuel efficiency figures.


PSA Peugeot Citroën 'real world' emissions tests show sizeable 'gap'

T&E, the Brussels-based NGO has announced what it claims are the first tests of cars’ ‘real-world’ CO2 emissions based on a new testing protocol devised by T&E. The results - on three PSA Peugeot Citroën models - show gaps between official and actual emissions of 36-56%, very similar to those of other on-road fuel efficiency databases. 


Tesla receives over 400,000 advance orders for new 'mass market' Model 3

Tesla Motors, the US electric vehicle manufacturer, has received more than 400,000 international advance orders (115,000 in the first 24 hours) for its new Model 3 electric car. Tesla is taking a £1,000 customer deposit to secure later delivery of the car, which is expected to be priced at around £30,000.


Shell reveals Gordon Murray 'Project M' low energy city car

Shell has unveiled a new lightweight vehicle prototype, by Gordon Murray Design. Entitled 'Project M' the car is designed for city driving and claims that it uses a third less energy in its lifetime than a typical city car.

Switch to low carbon transport could save billions says new report

New analysis by Cambridge Econometrics, the ICCT and Poyry Consulting shows that policies to promote low-carbon mobility would reduce global oil prices and could thereby reduce global spending on oil by $330 bn each year between 2020 and 2030. The report was launched by the European Climate Foundation at an event held at the London Stock Exchange.

Transport for London has launched a campaign to raise awareness and understanding of the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) which will operate 24x7 from September 2020.

Announcement for UK nominations for EBAE Awards includes LowCVP Awards 'Champion'

Celtic Renewables, one of LowCVP's 2014 Low Carbon Champions Award winners will be going forward to contest the European Business Awards for the Environment (EBAE).  The RSA Environment Awards Forum has announced the 11 UK entrants selected as finalists for the for 2016.

LowCVP submits evidence to Energy Committee inquiry into transport emissions targets

The LowCVP has submitted evidence to the Energy and Climate Change Committee's inquiry which is exploring the main challenges with, and potential solutions to, meeting the UK’s 2020 renewable energy targets for heat and transport.

The LowCVP's Managing Director Andy Eastlake is among the speakers at this year's European Bus Forum, which will be held in Manchester on June 23rd. Produced by Eurotransport and hosted by Transport for Greater Manchester, this one-day conference and gala dinner, offers opportunities for collaboration and networking.
